The Swedish Theory of Love

15 yrs 90 minutes 2015 6.6

In February 1972 a group of Swedish politicians gathered together to create a new vision for the future. With the drive to challenge traditional social structures as a motive, a new goal was formulated: Their image was a society of autonomous individuals. A manifesto was written, stating that no citizen should be dependent on another. Forty years later Sweden is the world's loneliest country. We top the international statistics both in terms of people living and people who die alone. The Swedish Theory of Love is attempting to lift the cracks and flaws of Scandinavian perfection to the surface, to investigate the back side of modern life. Moviezine's Andreas Samuelsson writes that "It's an extremely imaginative and intelligent movie that could have been longer [...] we'll have to settle with this morsel that should have something to offer most, whether you're a hippie with love for everyone or someone who thrives in quiet loneliness."
