Flickan som räddade mitt liv
In August 2014, documentary filmmaker Hogir Hirori decides to travel to Iraqi Kurdistan to portray the fate of the more than 1.4 million people who have been forced to flee ISIS. He is offered to go on a helicopter ride with supplies to the Sinjar Mountains, where hundreds of thousands of people are surrounded by ISIS. On his way to the helicopter, Hogir finds an 11-year-old girl laying alone on the ground crying. He decides to stay with the girl instead of going on the helicopter. It turns out the helicopter crashed, meaning that the girl saved his life. After leaving the girl for a short while, he can’t find her again, leading him on a search for the girl who saved his life. This documentary is the story of Hoger’s attempt to find the girl again, but it’s also a personal and intimate portrait of the women, children and families whose lives has been destroyed by the Islamic State’s terror.
