The Cordillera of dreams
Documentary filmmaker Patricio Guzman has given us several fantastic documentaries over the years, such as Nostalgia for the Light and The Pearl Button. Now he delivers yet again an acclaimed and praised documentary, in which Guzman explores Chile's bloody past with the start in the vast mountain range of Andes. Wherever you are in the country, the mountain chain is visible, and it has both isolated the population and closed out the opportunity for reality to emerge. But despite this, the dreams are still there and for the people of Chile this national icon has different meanings. Nöjesguidens Kaisa Syty writes: "The lack of knowledge of Chile that exists around here is proof that the director's work is indispensable." Received the award for best documentary at the Cannes Film Festival 2019.
