Kiki

15 yrs 94 minutes 2016 6.8

This close and intimate portrait of LGBTQ youths in New York depict the sanctuary they have found in the Kiki movement, where alternative families, tolerance and dance unite them. In Dagens nyheter, Fredrik Strage writes: “This documentary reminds us that the struggle for equality is far from over, even though same-sex marriage has been legalized in the US. It shows how transgender people still live outside society, especially if they have a Latino- or Afro-American background. The dance floor becomes their safe zone”. Kiki was awarded best documentary at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2016.
