Ägget är löst! - en hårdkokt saga

11 yrs 101 minutes 1975 6.2

This musical tragicomedy starring Max von Sydow as The Father, the patriarch of a seemingly nameless family. A factory owner whose workers transform eggs into specialized tools for scratching certain unreachable human itches, The Father rules both his business and his family with an iron fist. So when The Son (Gösta Ekman) rebels against him, it comes as no surprise that The Father doesn't take it very well. In fact, the two end up squaring off to see who can kill the other first.  But The Son fails and thrown into the lake. There he gets stuck in the bottom and gets standing. He adapts to sea life and winter. With the spring river he is flushed to a whole new world ...
Gösta Ekman, Max von Sydow and Birgitta Andersson in Hasse Alfredsson's senselessly funny post in the environmental debate.

SvD (Elisabeth Sörenson): "It's a tumultuous and challenging film, brutal against 'the good taste' and in the midst of this there are stretches of poetry and genius. The Softening of the Egg is a deeply personal post in a debate we must carry. The film could not have been made by anyone other than Hans Alfredson. "
