Together with them, she plays football and makes everyone believe she’s a boy. Finally, the consequences are inevitable, but also leads to thoughts about gender and identity. “With delicacy and warmth, Tomboy investigates the layers of shame in an uncertain gender identity”, Emma Engström states in Göteborgsposten, rating the movie 4 out of 5. In Svenska Dagbladet, Hynek Pallas rates it 5 out of 6. He writes: Zoé Heran is astonishing in the role; I wonder what goes on in her sharply reflecting eyes in almost every scene.”
