The Human Scale
Today, 50% of the world’s population lives in urban areas. In 2050, this will increase to 80%. Life in a megacity is attractive to many, but it’s also problematic. Today we are met by challenges such as the stop of oil production, climate change and serious health problems due to our way of living. But why? The Danish architect Jan Gehls has studied human behavior in cities for over 40 years. In this documentary he searches for answers and examines how we can build cities in a way that considers human needs for integration and intimacy.
