Jordgubbslandet
The teenage boy Wotjek and his Polish family travels to Sweden to work on a field of strawberries, with low wages and lousy working conditions. The openly racist and compassionless boss lets her daughter Annelie supervise the work, but her inherited values doesn’t seem to stand in the way of a Romeo and Julia-style romance in the beautiful landscape of south east Sweden. The film has won several international awards and was nominated for two Guldbagge Awards. Karin Svensson praises the director in Metro and writes that “Ericsson combines grim social commentary with delicate romance”. She rates the movie 4 out of 5.
