The painter and the thief
After the young Czech artist Barbora Kysilkova moved from Berlin to Oslo, two of her most valuable paintings were stolen from a gallery. She desperately tried to find them when she encountered the unlikely opportunity to meet one of the thieves from the robbery. The professional criminal Karl-Bertil Nordland unexpectedly agrees to a meeting, and Barbora becomes fascinated by him. She asks him to pose for a portrait. The unlikely friendship between an artist and the thief who stole from her caught the attention of filmmaker Benjamin Reese and led to a documentary that has been praised at several film festivals around the world.
