Mads Mikkelsen plays a lone survivor after he crash-landed in the wilderness near the North Pole. Using the wreckage of the plane, he manages to survive through a daily routine of fishing, clearing snow and making emergency calls on the radio. One day a storm pulls in with it comes a helicopter. Just as he thinks he is about to be rescued, the helicopter crashes. In the remains he finds a severely injured woman who needs urgent care. He is now facing a difficult decision - to stay in the relatively safe settlement he has created and wait, or to take the risk and embark on a life-threatening journey in search of help.
