In this Japanese horror film from 1964, a mother and her daughter-in-law manage to survive a civil war in the 14th century. The women lure war-weary samurai into a pit to rob and murder them. After the war, the daughter-in-law falls in love with their returning neighbor, but this is not something that the mother approves of and forces her daughter-in-law home in a terrifying way. The film belongs to the Japanese film canon and is for its time very violent.
