Nothing Like a Dame
Four of Britain's most acclaimed actresses; Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Joan Plowright and Eileen Atkins, gather in a country house and talk while being filmed by Notting Hill-director Roger Michell. They are drinking champagne and discussing all kinds of topics, such as their 50-year-old friendship, gossip from London's theater scenes, Shakespeare, their careers, Laurence Olivier, aging and death. P1s Kulturnyheterna gives the documentary a top grade, while Annika Gustafsson at Sydsvenskan writes: “To see and hear these experienced, skilled and brilliant British actors banter and tell memories of their long professional lives is the most fun and stimulating thing I have seen for a very long time.”
