Girafada
Yacine works as a veterinarian at Qalqilya Zoo on the West Bank. Together with his ten-year-old son Ziad, they take care of the animals. One day an Israeli rocket attack kills one of the two giraffes at the zoo. Ziad, who is very attached to the giraffes, is crushed, but he can also see how the other giraffe is slowly dying of sadness. The only solution that Yacine and Ziad can see is finding a new giraffe that can move in, and the only one they know lives on the other side of the wall. Ahmad Bayatra won an award for best newcomer for his role as Ziad at the International Film Festival for Children and Young people 2014.
