Tulip Fever

Amsterdam in the 17th century. The wealthy and aging merchant Cornelis Sandvoort hires a young painter to paint a portrait of himself and his young, beautiful wife Sophia. Sophia and the artist fall head over heels for each other while she models for him. They begin a secret affair and, as tulip fever is at its height, the two lovers enact a risky and deadly plan to secure a future together.
