During World War II, the American Robert and the Italian Antonio were best friends. Forty years later, the now stressed and pill-popping Robert returns to Naples on business and accidentally bumps into his charming, life-loving friend. Again, the now graying gentlemen are drawn to each other and Antonio gets his friend to pause for a while just to enjoy life. But how come half the town seems to know who Robert is? The time has come for Antonio to reveal a secret he has carried for 40 years. Macaroni is a 1985 comedy by Italian director Ettore Scola (We All Loved Each Other So Much), starring Jack Lemmon (Some like it hot) and Marcello Mastroianni (La dolce vita).
