18-year-old Lola lives in a foster home after her father, Philippe, threw her out of her home two years earlier. Back then, Lola was still Lionel, but her father could not accept her new identity. When Lola's mother Catherine dies, both Lola and Philippe are determined to fulfill her last wish - that her ashes be spread by the North Sea where she grew up. They both set off on the journey, reluctant to be in the same car, but set on making one last gesture for Catherine. Belgian drama Lola was nominated for a César for Best Foreign Film 2020.
