In the drama film Vortex, by director Gaspar Noé, an elderly couple struggles through the increasingly truncated everyday life in the book- and memory-filled apartment in Paris, when one of them is struck by dementia. Once a psychologist working with other people's minds, she now gradually experiences how her own is slowly fragmenting and splitting apart. At the same time, her husband is consumed by a book project about film storytelling, and he neither can nor wants to see how bad things are getting for his beloved.
