The inseparable 13-year-olds Léo and Rémi are best friends who spend all their time together one last summer. When they then start junior high school in the fall, their relationship changes. Realizing how their friendship could be destroyed, Léo approaches Rémi's mother Sophie to cure his loneliness. The film touches on themes of identity, heartbreak and friendship. Close won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
