In Vermont, in the early 1900s, a serial killer runs loose. The victims appear to be women with different types of disabilities and Countess Mrs. Warren begins to suspect that her mute housekeeper has reason to worry. She tries to move the housekeeper to a safer place, but she stays in the house. In the large house filled with dark hallways and a steep spiral staircase leading straight down into a dark and scary basement... The Spiral Staircase was called “one of the great classic horror movies" by Aftonbladet and Ethel Barrymore was Oscars nominated for her role as Mrs. Warren.
