Slack Bay is the French historical comedy nominated for the Cannes Gold Palm in 2016. The year is 1910 and it is summer. By the beach of the English Channel, tourists have begun to disappear. The infamous police inspectors Machin and Malfoy succeed in tracking the disappearances to the small fishing community Slack Bay. Here lives the strange family Brufort, led by the charismatic father who struggles to keep his wayward sons out of trouble - especially the impulsive Ma Loute! On a small hill above the bay is Van Peteghem's mansion. Each summer, the last of the decayed bourgeois parde down their hillside and vacation among ordinary people. And that's how the strange love story between Ma Loute and the young whimsical Billie Van Peteghem begins. A love that, in the midst of all calamity, will change everything for both these strange families.
