Delicatessen
Delicatessen is a futuristic comedy by the French filmmakers Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie from Montmartre) and Marc Caro (The City of Lost Children). In the near future, civilization has collapsed and food is no longer available for money. In an apartment building lives a collection of odd characters and a butcher of a cannibalistic nature. He has his own meat shop on the ground floor. When his daughter falls in love with a circus artist, a group of freedom-fighting vegetarians are forced to save her lover from the butcher's meat grinder. Comedy, romance and science fiction are mixed in this award-winning film from 1991.
