What do you think about Lucky? John Carroll Lynch made a name for himself as an actor in films like Shutter Island, Zodiak and Fargo. This is his first film as a director and he tells a story about a 90-year-old chain smoking atheist who awaits death. The man, played by Harry Dean Stanton, lives in a secluded American desert down and his days follow the same pattern: he does his yoga, drinks his coffee, goes shopping for groceries and eventually finish the day off at the local bar. “Lucky is an irresistible love declaration to grumpy old men who speaks with the television, but it’s also a wonderful tribute to an exceptional actor who recently passed away”, Wanda Bendjelloul writes in DN, rating the film 5 out of 5.
