Two best friends Karsten and Petra take their stuffed animals Miss Kaning and Lion Kid with them and travel with Petra's mother and grandfather to South Africa. There they meet Petra's mother's friend Emma, who is a veterinarian, and her daughter Tiri. They immediately become friends with Tiri and her stuffed animal Turtle. During a safari, they find the lion cub Leo who has lost his mother – will they find her? Karsten og Petra på safari is an adventure film for the whole family, based on Tor Åge Bringsværd's books.
