A Bronx tale

15 yrs 121 minutes 1993 7.8

Growing up in the Bronx in the early 1960s, Calogero is fascinated by the local mafia. As a nine-year-old, he witnesses how Sonny, one of the local gangster bosses, defends his friend. Calogero's father Lorenzo forbids his son to have anything to do with the mafia. But when Calogero refuses to identify the killer to the police, he impresses Sonny, who trains him to be a gangster. The mafia's power grows bigger as the years go by and Lorenzo does all he can to save his son from a life of crime. One day, Calogero is forced to choose, between earning his respect as a father or taking it by force like Sonny. A Bronx tale is Robert de Niro's directorial debut from 1993.
