In Baz Luhrmann's BAFTA-awarded classic film Strictly Ballroom, we meet Scott Hastings who is a master of ballroom dancing but wants to dance in his own way. This poses problems between him and his Australian dance partner. Fran is a beginner, but despite this she dares to ask if Scott wants to be her dance partner, as his usual dance partner chooses to leave him after a slightly different dance performance. Together, they embark on the attempt to win the big Australian dance competition "Pan Pacific Championship".
