When Kristian's father figure Peter becomes seriously ill, Kristian is confronted with the idea of returning to his hometown where he has not set foot in five years. In the same town, Peter's daughter Trine struggles to get her everyday life together, and to see Kristian again is not something she looks forward to. At the same time, the two high school students Tobias and Q find themselves in a difficult situation when new, unresolved feelings suddenly start to bloom. The Danish drama While We Live connects four human lives when a tragic event changes everything. The film is the debut of brothers Mehdi and Milad Avaz and was well received by the Danish critics. Julie Christiansen was awarded the Bodil Prize for best female supporting role in the role of Trine.
