When an explosion in the Kings Bay mine in Svalbard occurred in 1962, 21 miners were killed. A number of failures in the management of the mine were uncovered which led to a non-confidence vote that overturned the Norwegian government. 50 years after the events, the journalist Harriet at the newspaper Nordlys Tromsö receives an anonymous package of old audio tapes containing previously unknown information about the accident. Or was it an accident? The more she and her colleague dig up the past, the clearer it becomes that strong forces with great political influence do not want the truth to come out and will stop at nothing to stop them.
