The Milgram family has decided to celebrate Christmas together even though they are no longer close. The son has brought his new girlfriend home to meet the family, but it doesn't take long before old wounds are opened and the tension rises. The son and his girlfriend decide to leave first thing in the morning, but when they wake up the whole house is covered by a mysterious black substance and they cannot get out. They turn on the TV, but all it says is that they should stay indoors and wait for further instructions. Soon, anxiety and paranoia over what is really going on out there starts to take hold of the already divided family.
