In this thriller we meet brothers Chris, played by former Oscar-nominated Clive Owen, and Frank (Billy Crudup), two brothers who are on either side of the law. New York in the 1970s, Chris has just left the prison after serving his 12-year sentence for murder. He lives with his brother Frank so he can get back on his feet again. Frank, head of the local police, has great hopes for the future and helps Chris to get a job and improve the relationship with his children and ex-wife Monica (Marion Cotillard). But Chris soon falls back into his old habits and his brother Frank must decide where his true loyalty lies. Pär Wirdfors at Filmfenix believes that the acting is good and especially Owen and Crudup work well like two brothers wrestling with their relationship. The french director Guillaume Canet, has previously played one of the main roles in the French version with the same name.
