The Optimists

Allowed 92 minutes 2013 7.7

The Optimists are an unusual volleyball team from Hamar in Norway. The team consists of women between the ages of 66 and 98 who have been training together for 40 years. Now they are getting tired of just practicing, they want to play a real match.  98-year-old Goro is the queen of the volleyball team. With her willpower, her lust for life and her purple Converse, she is an incarnation of the team's philosophy. We get to follow Goro and the rest of the team on and off the volleyball court as they prepare to face off with the Swedish team Krutgubbarna through rigorous training sessions, teambuilding and needlework. “It is obvious that several of the scenes in Optimisterna are arranged, but honestly I can't really remember when I last saw so much joy of life gathered in a movie”, Mats Johnson writes in Helsingborgs Dagblad and gives out the second to highest rating.

The film is not playable outside of Sweden
