Louis’s mother has recently passed away, and now he is supposed to go to his grandparents in New Mexico. But as he is getting on the bus he gets kidnapped by John, a desperate small-time thief starting to run out of money. The plan is that Louis’s grandparents are going to pay the ransom, but as they travel from New Mexico to Texas, a seemingly strange relationship develops. They become buddies in crime and starts to rob their way through the American south. But when they meet Mary and Rose – a mother and daughter looking for a ride, and some romance, they are forced to choose between life on the run and love.
