The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The plot is simple: A group of young people on a day out in the countryside in Texas. After picking up and then kicking out an irreverent and violent lifter, they split into smaller groups and eventually end up in a remote house where they encounter a man wearing a mask made of human skin. He begins to kill them one by one. Both Stanley Kubrick and Steven Spielberg have designated it as one of their favorite films. The film magazine Empire calls it "the scariest movie of history". But despite the tributes, in Sweden The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will always be considered the most hated movie ever. A fate it has been living down since 1980 when the debate show Studio S made it the symbol of video violence, resulting in headlines and police raids across the country. Until 1994, it was totally banned in Sweden, but now you can decide for yourself how one of the films that defined a whole movie genre stands against newer offers.
