In the midst of the silence of the Korean wilderness, surrounded by forest, water and the cycle of the seasons, an old Buddhist monk lives in a small floating hermitage. With patience and quiet wisdom, he guides a young boy through all the stages of life - from the play of childhood to the trials of adulthood. Through simple but powerful actions, he teaches compassion, self-awareness and responsibility. But when the boy grows up and is confronted with love, desire and violence, his lessons are put to the test. Can he find his way back to peace - or will the wheels of life continue to turn with the same painful rhythm?
