In this black-and-white acclaimed drama, we follow the tough, kind-hearted fisherman Martin, who with growing bitterness is forced to watch as holiday-celebrating city dwellers take over his home village. In the small fishing community, everything has changed, Martin and his brother's childhood home has been sold to rich Londoners. And while Martin avoids the tourists, his brother drives around them in the family's fishing boat. The conflicts are many. Fredrik Sahlin at Kulturnyheterna describes the film as follows: “Bait is a relief for a filmmaker's soul who is tired of all the tired repetitions, remakes and similar variations on the same commercially viable theme. Here comes a filmmaker who draws strength and inspiration from film history and creates something of his own and new.” The film has been nominated and won several awards, including BAFTA and Stockholm Film Festival.
