The paradise suite
Six different lives become intertwined with Amsterdam as a focal point. They all come from different parts of Europe, all with diverse, tragic, stories. Bulgarian Jenya travels to Amsterdam in the belief that a modelling career is waiting for her but falls victim to human trafficking. Deeply religious Yaya risks everything to help others. Seka from Bosnia is driven by vengeance after the civil war in former Yugoslavia and Swedish Lukas is tormented by the relationship with his emotionally inaccessible father. “The director has a well-developed feel for how this kind of story should be told. It has a lot of strong scenes, several of which remains in memory long after. However, they are not there to be speculative but to actually show what reality looks like to the vulnerable,” writes Björn G. Stenberg for Upsala nya tidning. He concludes: "And despite all the trauma it depicts, in the end The Paradise Suite is a movie about compassion and hope."
