Alone in Berlin
Berlin 1940. The working-class couple Otto (Brendan Gleeson) and Anna Quangel (Emma Thompson) learn that their only son has died on the battlefield and decides to fight Hitler's regime themselves by leaving postcards with regime-critical messages in public places. It doesn’t take long before Gestapo starts to look for them. Björn G. Stenberg thinks in Uppsala Nya Tidning that Brendan Gleeson and Emma Thompson "... shape the entire register of mute and paralyzing grief that turns into tangible and death-defying resistance in the small." Alone in Berlin is based on Hans Fallada's novel with the same title. Nominated for the Golden Berlin Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
The film is not playable outside of Sweden
