Mediterranea

15 yrs 107 minutes 2015 6.6

The two friends Ayiva and Abas from Burkina Faso travel over land and sea to reach Italy. Together they dream of new life opportunities, but once there, the shimmering promise is exchanged for difficult challenges and a disillusioned reality. Mediterranea is a highly topical film that carefully examines the relationship between immigrants and the new country. According to Moviezines Andreas Samuelsson, Mediterranea is "a film that makes you listen no matter how much you may want to close your eyes to the harsh reality that is the everyday life of many refugees". The film was shown at the Stockholm Film Festival where it won an award in the categories Best Debut, Best Actor and Telia Prize.
