Pelé: The Birth of a Legend

7 yrs 107 minutes 2016 7.2

This is a biographical feature film about the legendary football player Pelé and his way to greatness. Pelé was born in 1940 and had a poor childhood. His interest in football started early, but since he couldn’t afford a real football he played with a grapefruit or a paper-filled sock, tied together with laces. The film portrays Pelé’s upbringing up until the point where he, as a 17-year-old, is drafted to the Brazilian national team to play in the World Cup in Stockholm 1958, where he made the winning goal in the Final against Sweden. By his unconventional and genuine playing style, Pelé is by many regarded as the best football player of all time.
