Mr. Turner

7 yrs 144 minutes 2014 6.8

Mike Leigh's Mr. Turner portrays the last twenty-five years of the famous and eccentric British artist William Turners' (1775-1851) life. Deeply affected by the death of his father and loved by a housekeeper, whom he takes for granted and exploits sexually, Turner starts a close relation with a landlady in Chelsea. During this time he travels, paints, rubs shoulders with the country's aristocracy, visits brothels and is a popular, albeit controversial, member of the Royal Academy of Arts.
