The Hidden Fortress

The Hidden Fortress takes place in 16th century Japan. Two poor peasants happen to meet a man and a woman who is on the run. After promises of more gold than they can ever imagine, the peasants agree to help the couple to flee. What they do not know is that the man and the woman in fact are a princess and a samurai… The film won the Silver Bear for the best directing at the Berlin Film Festival, and its story was, according to the director George Lucas, the inspiration for his film Star Wars (1977).
