Lady M

15 yrs 88 minutes 2016 6.8

It’s the 19th century in England and the young Lady Macbeth is sold together with a piece of land to be the wife of an elderly nobleman. She is isolated from the outside world and oppressed by both her husband and father-in-law, but refuses to accept her forced solitude. She starts an affair with one of her husband’s employees, and when she finds the joy of life once again the power roles turn upside down. Annika Gustafsson rates the film 4/5 in Sydsvenskan with the motivation: “it’s not just eminent acting but also an excellent dramaturgy”.
