The Queen was nominated for six Oscars in 2007, and Helen Mirren won the Best Actress category for her interpretation of Queen Elizabeth. The film revolves around Princess Diana's tragic death in Paris in 1997. When the news reached the British public, nobody really knows how to deal with the situation. Queen Elizabeth is at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and the expected comunication fails. Following the total silence from the royal family, the newly appointed Prime Minister Tony Blair sees himself compelled to act. The Queen follows the drama of politics and the people who are personally affected. The Queen and Prime Minister torn in a struggle between the royal family's personal tragedy and the peoples demands for a public proof of their grief.
