An exciting adventure from the emperor's court in China, an epic and surreal story from the world of politics in Canada, and a British coming-of-age story are ingredients in this week's Thursday premieres.

The Legend of the Demon Cat is a Japanese-Chinese production that deals with intrigues at the emperor's court in China. A mysterious cat appears, and a poet and a monk decide to investigate the death of the emperor's concubine by following the cat's trail. The film has won several awards.

The film The Twentieth Century is an absurd satire about Canadian politics from 2019. In a fictional Canada in 1899, the young aspiring politician MacKenzie King must fight for his position in love, family, and politics.

Stella – A Life is a German historical drama that tells the story of Stella Goldschlag, who grows up in Berlin under the Nazi regime. She dreams of a career as a jazz singer but is forced to hide with her parents in 1944.

In the BAFTA-nominated BIRD, we meet the girl Bailey, who is a house occupant with her brother and father in Kent. The father does not have time for the children, and Bailey seeks attention elsewhere. The film has a score of 7.0 on IMDb, and is directed by Oscar winner Andrea Arnold.

The year is 1939, it's summer, and we are at the White Cliffs of Dover.The Swedish Torpedo is a Swedish film about Sally Bauer, who has decided to swim across the English Channel.

Glengarry Glen Ross, from 1992, deals with what goes on behind the scenes at a brokerage office. Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, and Alec Baldwin are some of the stars who appear in the film, which also received an Oscar nomination.
