It is the living who are in pain, because The Dead don’t Hurt. See this modern Western directed, written and starring Lord of the Rings-favourite Viggo Mortensen.
In The Substance body-and youth hysteria is brought into a revealing light. The theme of the film can best be described as “body horror”, and attempts a jab at the brutal beauty ideal in Hollywood. Demi Moore (61) is nominated for an Oscar for her role as the ageing fitness star Elisabeth Sparkle.
Classical Rififi is a French noir film centering around master thief Tony, who, shortly after being released from prison, once again joins his buddies-in-crime. The film won Jules Dassin Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival in 1955.
Shy Kokoro finds a magical mirror in her bedroom that functions a s a portal to another world. This Japanese animated film is an adaptation of the novel by the same name, written by Mizuki Tsujimura. Lonely Castle in the Mirror is allowed for 11 years and over.
Self-appointed detective and mother of two Erika Falck does not stop, and this week the story involves a Free Church minister and several dead bodies. See The Preacher, another crime mystery from the little town of Tanumshede.
They live a little on the edge, the inhabitants on the St. Kilda islands off the coast of Scotland. One by one the young people leave the island in search of happiness elsewhere. The Edge of the World is directed by Michael Powell (1937), who also wrote a book based on the production shortly after.
