New movies that can lift any day or night!
A packed film week full of thoughtful and emotional movies. There are films and documentaries where you get to take part in several family constellations when children are affected in different ways by parents 'and authorities' decision-making. Be intimidated by terrorists from Japan or affected by how the lives of the Sami were affected by the Chernobyl disaster. We can also offer a little cosy romance!
In the documentary The wolfpack, director Crystal Mosell tells the story of six brothers who grew up isolated in an apartment in New York. Their parents have homeschooled them at home and only allowed them to leave the apartment a few times. The brothers have instead seen film as a way to understand and experience the world outside the cramped apartment.
In the family film Tvätten by Carl Johan De Geer and Håkan Alexandersson, Lisa is taken care of by Doctor Blom because he and the authorities believe that Lisa's mother Mona is not a good and orderly mother. Against Lisa's wishes, she is placed with the piano teacher Miss Blüchner. The couple Alexandersson / De Geer's first feature film is a surrealistic tale that depicts an absurd adult world.
In Sorry we missed you, Ricky and Abby want their eleven-year-old daughter Liz and their sixteen-year-old son Seb to grow up in their own house. But it is not easy to get the economy together. Abby is struggling in home service and Ricky buys a van to see if he can make more money through courier services. But it doesn’t turn out as they thought, and the couple has to work even harder. The children are left alone more and more often, which affects them in different ways.
The single mother Abigail meets Ben at a bar, and they jokingly make a list of things they must do before they end their pretend relationship, fully aware that it will never be the two of them. In the film 10 things we should do before we break up, we get to follow when the unlikely couple will tick off their list.
In Stefan Jarl's documentary Hotet shows how the Chernobyl disaster changed the lives of the Sami in Lapland. In the documentary, Jarl interviews several people who testify about the terrible catastrophe that befell both them and nature.
Kwaidan is director Kobayashi's classic horror anthology from 1964. The film won the Jury Prize at Cannes and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
