The princess of Montpensier

France, in the 1500s. The conflict between catholics and protestants escalate when the young Marie de Mazière loses the love of her life when she is forced to marry the prince of Montpensier. Her father's political ambitions take precedence over her love for Henri de Guise. But, when the prince leaves to fight in the war, Marie is left in the care of the ageing nobelman count Chabanne, who despise war. Soon she is pulled into political and sexual intrigues at the court.
