In Simon Mesa Soto's film Madre, Andrea accompanies her best friend from the mountains outside Medellin into town to audition for a porn film. She longs for luxury and success, but the consequences turn out to outweigh the desire. The film is a ruthless depiction of how a young woman's life is shattered by sexual oppression.
