Michelangelo Antonioni's masterpiece La Notte from 1961 is a praised study of moral decay and a marriage in crisis. The author Giovanni (Marcello Mastroianni) and his wife Lidia (Jeanne Moreau) pay a visit to their dying friend who is in a hospital, this is very shaking for both. Afterwards, they go to a party to celebrate the release of Giovanni's latest book. The couple is later in the night at a nightclub as well as a dissolute party at a millionaire’s house, and their marriage is subjected to various strains.
