The Founder

11 yrs 115 minutes 2016 7.2

John Lee Hancock directs this drama about the unlikely and true story of the founding of McDonald's and the subsequent struggle to control the company. The 52-year-old failed salesman Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) comes into the story selling milkshake mixers to the McDonald brothers. He sees what they do not see and manages to convince them to start a franchise. But he feels they don't understand what a golden egg they are sitting on, and therefore starts to fight for the control of the company to create a global empire. GP's Mats Johnson writes that "Michael Keaton is in absolute top form and dominates The founder the same way he did in Birdman, he is in frame more or less the hole time, and one can do that with an actor of Michael Keaton’s caliber in front of the camera.”
