Hesher is an angry young man who hates the world, smokes like a chimney and likes porn, loud hard rock and explosions. One day he runs into the young TJ by chance. TJ is bullied at school and at home it's like time has stopped since his mother died in a car accident and his father subsequently was paralyzed by grief. He feels unseen and is secretly in love with the supermarket cashier. Hesher becomes his unexpected and unwelcome mentor as unconcerned by norms he simply moves in with TJ and his family and turns their lives upside down. An indie drama about loss and grief that takes place in the eighties, complete with cassette tape and worn brown Volvo 245s.
